About Us
Carty’s Collision Center was founded in 1992 by the McCarty family, long time residents of Upland. When they opened, Mr. McCarty also owned a Ford Dealership Body Shop in Hollywood. Mr. McCarty was the proud recipient of the prestigious Ford Motor Company “Medallion Award” for quality repairs and superior customer service.
Mrs. McCarty, known to everyone as Jackie handled customer service and marketing for the facility when they opened. She was known around town for her friendliness and for treating their customers like family. About 6 months after they opened, Jackie was diagnosed with lung cancer. She still worked for the next 2 years and shortly thereafter passed away. There are still customers 15 years later that come in and talk about her. Occasionally even neighboring businesses will do the same. Jackie passed her friendliness and tenacity on to her kids. 2 of her 4 children are still working in the company.
Kelly, Jackie’s middle child and her husband’s right hand now runs the company along with her brother, Chuck, the youngest of the McCarty Family. Over the last 17 years, Carty’s Collision has been on the forefront of education and technology. Placing value and importance in education and technology has been a McCarty family core value.
Mr. McCarty, Mike, pushed his daughter to get educated; stressing that education was her key to surviving in his male dominated industry when she entered 20 years ago.
In 1994, Kelly McCarty started the highly successful district #917 in Ontario for I-CAR. I-CAR- the Inter-Industry Conference in Auto Repair is an industry standard and still to date the major training arm of the industry. With I-CAR, Kelly was a district chair, State Chair, International Advisory Board Member and a Member of the Board of Directors.
In 1998, Kelly McCarty was chosen as the CA Autobody Association (CAA) member of the year for her leadership skills and lobbying efforts. The facility has been a member of the association for the last 16 years.
In 2002, Kelly led a group of collision repairers to Taiwan to educate herself and colleagues on Aftermarket Body Parts (Parts manufactured by a company other than the original manufacturer of the vehicle and sold through a different distribution chain). She has been pivotal in helping shape the industry’s viewpoint on Aftermarket parts. She further committed herself to learning more about the parts by orchestrating “blind parts test fits” at CIC (Collision Industry Conference) forums. She currently sits on the CAPA (Certified Aftermarket Parts Association) Technical Review Committee. She was also a witness in State Farm’s famous class-action law suit Avery vs. State Farm.
